At DC Area Moms, we value supporting one another in all stages of motherhood. If you have experienced a pregnancy or infant loss, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of these groups or organizations. These are here to support you. If you do decide to visit a group, please be sure to call or email to confirm meeting times and locations. We hope you find this guide helpful!

If you have a baby that will always be in your heart, but is no longer in your arms, we would be honored to add your baby(ies) to our Forever Loved Wall on indefinitely. Please submit details on the page and we will add your baby’s name typically within 24 hours.

Maryland Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Groups

Perinatal Loss Support Group has a 6-week free support group for families who experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death. The group meets at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, 9901 Medical Center Drive, Rockville, MD 20850. Gone, But Not Forgotten is a pregnancy loss group for losses occurring in the second and third trimesters. For more information contact Dr. Julie Bindeman, [email protected] or Nanci Brown, [email protected]

Miscarriage & Recurrent Loss Support Group supports women who have suffered a miscarriage or recurrent losses with monthly meetings. Contact Dr. Julie Bindeman, [email protected].

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Washington Adventist Hospital Empty Arms, Aching Heart has a support group offered by Pastoral Care Services for parents grieving the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. For more information call 240-826-6112. Spanish speaking support group also available.

TCF Southern Maryland Chapter is a self-help support group for parents who lost a child at any age and for any reason. Group meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 pm. For more information or details call/email Pat (301) 934-1688[email protected].

TCF Prince George’s County MD Chapter has a self-help support group for parents who lost a child at any age and for any reason. Group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. For more information or details call/email Sara (301) 776-3490 or Sylvia (301) 420-7759[email protected].

Center for Infant and Child Loss offers a SIDS and infant death support group. Contact Joani Nelson Horchler for details: (301) 802-7445, [email protected].

Anne Arundel Perinatal and Infant Loss Support Group offer a peer support group for families who experienced the loss of a baby due to a miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn death. Groups are the 1st Monday of the month from 7:00-8:30pm at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 4 Wallace Manor Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Contact Ann O’Sullivan, RN for details, (410) 570-2164.

Anaya’s Project offers monthly peer to peer support groups for families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss and/or are dealing with fertility issues. Please check their website for the date of the support group and contact them if you have any questions.

Rachel E. K Freedman is a local Psychologist that offers virtual groups for loss and pregnancy termination for medical reasons. This is MD based, but virtual.

Virginia Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Groups

MIS/Share Parent-led support network that offers information, comfort, and validation to grieving parents who experienced the death of their baby during pregnancy or after birth. Email for details: [email protected].

H.O.P.E. (Helping Other Parents Endure) Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group for all who have experienced a loss due to miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, or SIDS. Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at Rockland Community Church, 2921 Rockland Road, Front Royal, VA 22630. Call or email Robin L. Life After Miscarriage, Perinatal Loss, and Stillbirth offers two monthly support groups. The Prince William County meeting is the second Monday of each month from 7:30-9:30 pm at St. Thomas Methodist Church, 8899 Sudley Road

Subsequent Pregnancy After a Loss (SPAL) offers free support groups for women who are pregnant after the loss of a baby. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 7628 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22043. TCF Fairfax Chapter offers self-help support groups for parents who lost a child at any age and for any reason.
