Reading books and pretend play is a magical part of our children’s lives. Each night we read our children stories and introduce them to magical kingdoms, clever princes and princesses, and dangerous obstacles to overcome – Adventures in Wonderland brings that magic to the daytime and helps your kids get some energy out too! Kids seem to have an endless number of ideas and ways to play when we offer them an environment that allows the freedom to think creatively. Adventures in Wonderland not only allows kids to think and play creatively, but visiting Adventures in Wonderland is almost like stepping into the book Alice in Wonderland. We recently hosted DC Moms first birthday event at Adventures in Wonderland and the kids had a blast! Adventures in Wonderland is a pop-up play space based on the classic story by Lewis Carrol. It includes a Cheshire Cat mushroom forest, Mad Hatter tea table, Queen of Hearts croquet obstacles, and much more!
Play with and Touch Everything at Adventures in Wonderland
Playing and touching all of the custom built items at Adventures in Wonderland is key! Some of the highlights are giant mushrooms that kids can move around and jump from, a mini croquet course, a throne for the Queen of Hearts, a giant sized chess board, giant puzzle pieces, and several characters from Alice in Wonderland. There are also pieces to make a one of a kind Tweedle Dum with different faces (kind of like a giant Mr. Potato Head). Our kids also enjoyed having a pretend tea party with the giant tea pot (with the Mad Hatter).
The atmosphere at Adventures in Wonderland is laid back and explorative–perfect for kids. Immediately to your right when you enter Lake Fairfax Park (1400 Lake Fairfax Dr, Reston, VA 20190) is Adventures in Wonderland. There is parking available right out front and Ally from Dogwood Events can greet you as you enter the area. It is all outdoor, but there is a tent with giant logs for kids to climb in and on. When you enter, I highly encourage you to simply let your kids lead you in what to do. They are full of ideas and this is a perfect space to truly let them explore. There are also picnic tables so this is a great place to bring lunch and hang out while your kids wander about.
Birthday Celebrations at Adventures in Wonderland
Life is better with friends! And parties at unique places are always fun. Adventures in Wonderland is a place that accommodate large groups! DC Area Moms Blog had a Birthday event there on Sunday. We had a wonderful time and also enjoyed face painting from Hilt Face Painting and kids got to meet Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland with Princess Parties of DC. The space is magical and was made extra special by each of these great local businesses. We also enjoyed delicious cupcakes from The Wooden Spoon Cakery and all of our photos were provided by Lenzy Ruffin Photography. But the most important part was visiting with friends in the fun space and watching the kids pretend play.
Adventures in Wonderland is in town this weekend (May 3-5) and next weekend (May 10-12) only! Be sure to get your tickets, pack a lunch, and hang out for a while. After a great showing in New York, Dogwood Events brought Adventures in Wonderland down here to the DC area. It is very cute and worth checking out with little kiddos.
