Luisa Gonzalez: January Mom of the Month
Luisa is currently an ICU nurse at Doctors Medical Center. She has enjoyed being a nurse for 8 years but this challenging pandemic time has reminded her of the value of being a caregiver at home and outside the home. Luisa is married and has two children who are 2.5 years old and 6 months. Working in the ICU while pregnant was a scary time mostly for her family but Luisa continued on focusing on her passion and preparing for the new arrival.
Here is our Q&A with Luisa:
1. What tips or words of wisdom would you give pregnant moms during COVID-19?
Luisa recommends that pregnant moms continue taking their prenatal vitamins, avoiding unnecessary outings and washing hands. After having the baby, it is difficult not to be able to let many friends and family see the baby. Make use of social media and cameras!
2. What is one thing you want your children to learn from you?
As an immigrant, Luisa wants her children to learn that with hard work, dreams become truth and kindness is never wasted.
3. What is it like being a mom and working in the ICU?
Balancing life as an ICU nurse and mom of two little ones requires prioritizing and maximizing time with family. It can be difficult to stay healthy. Being intentional about getting self-care, healthy diet, and exercise is very important for any mom.
