Kids Play Gallery: An Imaginative Play Space

0

As a parent, we face one question again and again…and again: What am I gonna do with my kid in the heat of the summer, cold of winter, or on rainy days?

Online, I often see moms asking for ideas for what to do with their children indoors. And, earlier this year, a fantastic new option has presented itself: Kids Play Gallery

Kids Play Gallery’s Play Houses

Kids Play Gallery in Gaithersburg, MD describes itself as an “imaginative playspace” and if you don’t know what that means (because I sure didn’t), I can best define it with examples. There is a grocery store (which is adorable) full of pretend fruits and vegetables. Your kid can load up a shopping cart, take the cart for a spin around the town center (yes, there is a town center) and then bring back the items and restock the shelves. There is a fire engine kids can climb in and drive, but there are no sirens or lights. It’s up to them to put on a fireman’s jacket and hat (which are provided), hop behind the wheel and make the noises themselves, which was no problem for my son. He says “nee-naw, nee-naw” about as often as he says “mama”. Actually, I’m pretty sure he said “nee-naw” way before he ever said my name.

Here are ALL of the playhouses: Grocery Market, Diner, Animal Hospital, Service Station, Fire Station (and pretend burning building), Beauty Boutique, Fishing Dock, Fire Engine, and Ice Cream Truck!

An Indoor Fun Zone for Little Kids

Kids Play Gallery is bright, colorful, clean and the owner, Rowena, is very kind and passionate about creating this for area families. Rowena is a parent as well and said she wanted to open the business because she saw the lack of indoor imaginative playspaces.

Places like bounce houses, trampoline parks, and indoor playgrounds with climbing rocks are great, but they can also be a little bit nerve-racking. As a parent, you really need to follow your children around to make sure they don’t get hurt…especially if your kid is anything like my son. He’s incredibly active and has fallen right before my eyes more times than I can count. Did I mention he fell and chipped his teeth at just 15 months?

But I digress, at Kids Play Gallery you definitely should watch your kid, but it’s more relaxing for the parent than a place like a trampoline park. During my visit, I split my time between playing with my son, talking with the owner, and sitting on a bench in the town center chatting with a friend.

Open Play, Memberships, and Birthday Parties at Kids Play Gallery

Kids Play Gallery is $15 per visit…and that is for the entire day. There are other options for memberships and pricing after 4 pm. When I met up with another parent there, it was that person’s second time there that day.

So…head on over and tell them hi! I truly love this new business and was so impressed with Kids Play Gallery that I have now planned our son’s birthday party here! I know I need the option to have indoor play during rainy days, cold days, and hot days! Trucks, snacks and Paw Patrol only go so far before my son’s looking at me like “What’s next, nee-naw?”
